What is FIRST LGEO League?
FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is a unique STEM based robotics competition for students of age group 9 to 16 years. Students in a team of 2-10 members guided by one or two adult coaches are eligible to participate in the competition.
FLL is an opportunity to immerse children in the real-world science & technology challenges through a fun-filled exploration journey alongside enhancing their life skills.
Teams participating in FLL program have to carry out
Robot Game & Design:
Teams have to design, build & program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTOMRS technology to solve missions on a scientific theme based table-top playing field. Teams get 1-2 rounds of 2.5 minutes each to solve missions on the competition day. Teams must also talk about their design thinking, strategy of solving missions, structural elements of the robot etc. in a 5 minute interview with judging panel.
Teams shall procure the challenge playfield and LEGO MINDSTORMS technology under the value pack section.
Research Project:
Teams have to explore/research a problem aligned with the scientific theme of playing field and analyze existing solutions if any. They need to either identify an improvement to existing solution or develop their own innovative solution for the chosen problem. They shall share their findings with their friends, neighboring community, corporates who will be interested at such solutions etc.
During the competition day, teams have to display their work (Models, Show Me Posters, and Prototypes etc.) and present it to the judging panel during a 5 minutes interview session.
Core Values
FIRST LEGO League is unique in a way that it doesn’t only assesses what teams have done (robot game, research project) but it also emphasizes on how they have been able to do it as a team. Teams have to uphold the importance of discovery than winning, honor the spirit of friendly competition, stay together as a team, display Gracious Professionalism & Coopertition and have unlimited FUN!
Teams should always remember the following FLL core values:

FLL India was launched in 2009 and more than 1000 teams have enjoyed the journey since then impacting several thousand students every year. India STEM Foundation organizes FLL India at Regional & National level. The regional competitions are held in several major cities in the past including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai & Pune. Teams that qualify at the regional level culminate at the National Championship and teams qualifying at National have opportunities to represent India at multiple International Championship (World Festival at USA, Asia-Pacific Championship at Australia, European Open Championship, and International Open Championship).
What if you could build a better world? Where would you begin?
More than ever, we must come together to innovate and solve problems. In FIRST®, you are part of a thriving community brimming with inspiration, creativity, and hope for a stronger, more sustainable future—one that’s built better together. You have the power to help the cities, towns, and places you call home reach new heights. With the support of the FIRST community, this is your opportunity to lead our future forward—and up.
FIRST LEGO League challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. During the CITY SHAPER season, teams will choose and solve a real-world problem in the Innovation Project. They will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under the FIRST signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.

Mentor/Coach a Team
You may come from any walk of life (parent, working individual, home maker, undergrad student etc.), all you need is a group of students who are passionate to participate in the program. You may identify these children in your neighborhood, your school, your society etc. If you need any technical assistance there are several self-learning tools on the web that may fill the technical gap.
Sponsor a Team
There isn’t any dearth for children willing to participate in these fun-filled programs. However, those children often lack financial support to enroll. You may as an individual/corporate identify such children (from your society, school, community etc.) and provide requisite financial support for participating in the program. You can also contact us to help you identify teams that are in need of financial sponsorship.

Become Event Volunteer
Join the Judging Panel: Contact us today if like interacting with students, understand what they have done and identify their strengths and weaknesses. You just have to give couple of hours your time on a weekend during the competition day. Team India STEM Foundation will ensure to brief you on the judging process, rubrics/evaluation documents prior to the competition.
Become a Referee
Attention is of essence for the referees at the FLL Robot Game. We need such attentive individuals during the competition to note down the time and score achieved by teams’ robot. We guarantee you the most exciting fun you’ll ever have watching these robots perform and teams’ spirit.
Become a Coordinator
Running around and helping the teams, queuing them up for their interviews/game runs, interacting with them at their pits, maintaining the overall excitement of the event are some of the tasks you would get to enjoy by volunteering at the competition.
